Day 9 – Santa Barbara

The Blog is running behind! Well, that happens sometimes. Gotta get on with enjoying the moments and not always have a camera between you and the real world. The next two day’s posts are brought to you by Max Beedle. It’s all your’s, Max:

The day started off with delicious coffee and ham and cheese croissants at Holly’s in LA. Liam again was an amazing child. Today was a “late” leave day and we were in car at about 9:30 to head up to see Guy in Santa Barbara.

A quick drive had us arriving to Guy’s house right around 11:30. Guy and Francesca made us a lunch and we ate it overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We went for a stroll around the Yacht Club and the beach. The Santa Barbara Community College has some of the most amazing views of the oceans, we all want to take a class there now.

After returning home we went for another hike, about 3.5 miles, down to the beach and back. The Pacific beaches are a lot different than the ones at Nags Head. Lots of rocks, little sand and some tar—but some incredible views. Finally time for diner, but more importantly time to watch some hockey. My dad and Guy are a treat to watch hockey with, lots of memories from the hockey house to high school, some appropriate, some not, but all funny stories to tell.

We made an important decision though that night. With a cold, rain soaked day predicted in Yosemite, we decided to stay in Santa Barbara for one extra day. Needless to say my Dad and Guy were happy about that.

Great to see Guy!

So that’s what a hockey team vacation would look like on the west coast. Except for the sand and the dive bars.
