Day 2 – Knoxville to St Louis

The drive from Knoxville to Nashville was so nice. We left really early in the morning and weaved our way through the East Tennessee mountains, cutting in and out of fog banks on a highway that was almost exclusively ours. Then of course we stopped at a rest stop and our idyllic world was turned upside down when we saw an attendant that looked like a psychopath out of a Stephen King novel.

Ah, such is life.

We spent the entire afternoon in St. Louis. Had a great lunch, then observed a moment of silence for their home town hockey team, the Blues, who were bounced out of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Nashville Predators, who’s hometown we drove through only three hours earlier. Then it was off to the Gateway Arch … which is quite the marvel of engineering. I (David) said it was incredible that someone could dream up something like that. Max said I was giving the architect too much credit. Civil Engineers had to figure out how to build the thing. Anyway it was a fantastic day. So much fun.

Turns out when we’re driving, we go through bouts of extreme goofiness. That leads us to more news of the “album” that will soon “drop” and the imminent “single” that will hit this blog any day now. The band’s producer, Baxter “Big Bay” Barns (no “e”) has told us legal wrangling has held up the band’s debut release. All we can say is that cows, a Sheetz, and spoons are involved.

Stay tuned!

Song of the day: Duct Tape Blues, Joel Mabus.
