Day 15 – Seattle

Laura’s posting today. Yay!

We arrived in Seattle around 9:30 AM, met David’s cousin Don Healy and his wife Liz, and then proceeded to downtown Seattle to tour Pikes Outdoor Market. Yay! We got to see a seafood worker toss a salmon—a bit of a tourist enjoyment! I like the vibe of the market: hometown seafood, fruit and vegetable stalls, vibrant flowers, lots of organic products, handmade clothing, and great enticing scents from bakeries. David took my pic at the original Starbucks – line way too long to get coffee though! We wound down to the waterfront and took more pictures.

Next stop, Don and Liz’s house. Wow! Their house sits on the lake which is visually stimulating, but emotionally calming. The day was clear – the temperature around 70° – marvelous! Max went out to kayak and was also the first person to be in the lake this year. Max said the water was great.

After lunch, we took drove over to the Boeing facility. Don had gotten tickets for us to do the tour. Instead of Don touring with us, Garrett Beedle, Kirk’s son, came to meet us and went on the tour with us. It was great to spend time with Garrett, especially after David was able to see Kirk only a few days earlier. Garrett is in the Navy and works with radar. A friendly guy with a good sense of humor. The Boeing facility tour was immense – you could not take pictures on the tour but it was so cool to hear about its history.

Once we returned to Don and Liz’s house more family joined in the fun. Marilyn, Alisa, Mark, Ronan, Theresa, Kurt, Lauren. We dined on salmon and pork, and so much more. So delicious! Laughter and stories made the evening fabulous. We went outside and hung on the deck around the fire. There were marshmallows for toasting, but it seemed to me that I torched all mine. I enjoyed them all the same. Hugs all around … We went to sleep towards 11:30 PM. A glorious day 🙂

Lakeside living in the great Northwest. Now, that speaks to me!

Uncle Tommy says “Hey, buy me one of those salmon and if I’m not home just leave it under the driver’s seat of Uncle Jed’s car. I’ll let him know that it’s there.” The shots in the market are great.

Are you actually going to come home? Or just “tag up” and do it again?
